PAINTINGS AND SCULPTURE
The act of manipulating materials to create images and forms that communicate information has intrigued me for as long as I can remember.
THE ORIGINAL NUCLEOTIDE SERIES - Oils on Canvas
genome1 (diptych) 18x18in
Upon transplanting to Berkeley California in 2001, I took the opportunity to finally attempt the kind of painting that I had been imagining and longing to create. By merging my meticulously obsessive pen and ink technique with the expressionistic and chromatically bold painting style I had been exploring, I arrived at my signature aesthetic. The style is characterized by complex asymmetrical abstractions of color fields culminating in congruent compositions.
THE SECOND NUCLEOTIDE SERIES - Oils on Canvas
genome2 36x36in
After completing the initial NUCLEOTIDE SERIES, I continued with the same approach and created a second series of similar compositions along the same lines (or curves).
And then I discovered THE GLASSES! The Chromadepth 3-D glasses burst onto my scene and introduced fantastic new dimensions into the work. Suddenly entire segments of my images were floating several inches off the surface of the canvas.
